Sandy Jasper the beloved canine companion who trotted between the waves of the beach and the shadows of the forest, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2023. Sandy was not just a pet, but a spirit of the shores and woods, a testament to the pure joy and boundless adventure of life.
Born in the spring of 2011, Sandy spent 12 delightful years chasing seagulls, digging up hidden treasures in the sand, and bounding through the dense thickets of the neighboring forest. The beach was Sandy’s playground and the forest was the canine’s tranquil sanctuary.
Familiar to locals and tourists alike, Sandy’s exuberant barks echoed with the rolling waves and rustling leaves. The sun-dappled spots under the pine trees and the soft depressions in the sand dunes bore witness to Sandy’s many moments of rest and reflection.
Sandy was a teacher in many ways. Through the dog’s eyes, we re-learned the thrill of a simple stick thrown into the sea, the wonder of chasing one's own shadow, and the pure happiness of rolling in fresh grass or warm sand. The seasons changed, as they always do, but Sandy’s enthusiasm remained a constant force, a reminder that joy can be found in the simplest moments.
Survived by the Thompson family, who adopted Sandy as a curious pup, Sandy Paws leaves behind countless memories of beach picnics, forest hikes, and cozy evenings by the fire. The Thompsons are ever grateful for the endless love, loyalty, and life lessons Sandy brought into their lives.
As the sun sets and casts a golden hue on the shore, or when the forest whispers tales of old, remember Sandy Paws—forever the heart and soul of the beach and woods.
A small memorial will be held at Benson Beach on August 10th at sunset. All who knew and loved Sandy are welcome to join. In lieu of flowers, the Thompson family requests donations be made to the local animal shelter, ensuring more furry souls get to experience a life as rich and fulfilling as Sandy's.
